Hazel McLeod Obituary

Hazel Wiltshire McLeod passed away November 2, 2023 at the age of 90 in her home, where she was blessed to remain in her final years. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Charles (Jack) McLeod, her grandson Matthew McLeod, and her parents Len W. and Nellie Apperson Wiltshire.

Mrs. McLeod is survived by her children, Charles W. McLeod Jr. and wife Karen, Thomas L. McLeod and wife Patti, John E. McLeod Sr. and wife Pam, and Jackie McLeod Baughan and her husband Bill; her grandchildren, Sarah McLeod Halse and husband Shane, John E. McLeod Jr., Christina McLeod Goodyear and husband Alan, Victoria Baughan, Melanie Baughan, and William L. McLeod; and her great granddaughter Isla Halse.

After twenty years of service Mrs. McLeod retired from the National Bank of Fredericksburg as an Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager of the Greenbrier Branch. Previously she had worked at Chancellor Elementary School as the school secretary. Being an active Christian and church member, Mrs. McLeod was a member of Zoan Baptist Church for thirty years. She returned to her home church, New Hope Baptist, at Mine Run, VA where she served faithfully for the next thirty years. As a member she served in many ways, as a teacher, Sunday School Director, Vacation Bible School Director, Women's Missionary Union Director, Deacon, and as a Church Trustee. She was devoted to her family, her church, her faith, and serving The Lord.

Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 12 p.m. with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a time of fellowship in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Pastor Haynes will officiate.

The family expresses appreciation to the friends and neighbors who have been so kind and helpful to their mother. A special thank you to the staff and friends at the Lake of the Woods Dialysis Center and her at-home caregivers including Mary Green, Doris Hildrup, and previously Janice Jenkins.

Memorial Contributions can be made to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the New Hope Baptist Church Food Pantry. Online guestbook is available at johnsoncares.com.
