Shirley Watson Obituary

Shirley Watson

April 16, 1936 - September 5, 2025

Shirley Redmon Watson passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025. She was born April 16, 1936, in Rapidan, Va. She was the daughter of Grace G. Redmon and William H. Redmon.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Susan Sexton and Annette Binney; son, David L. Watson and his wife, Melanie; sons-in-law, Kim Barnette and Scott Minor; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Eddie Watson; daughters, Tracie Watson, Jacqueline Barnette, and Sherri Minor; grandson, Nathan Barnette; sister, Marie Redmon; and sons-in-law, Blair Binney and Mark Sexton.

Shirley loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved supporting Eddie's endeavors, playing golf, UVA sports, and going to lunch. Shirley was fun-loving and relished time with family and friends.

Our family cannot adequately express our gratitude for the care Shirley received at Albemarle Health and Rehab. We wish to thank the Nursing staff who took wonderful care of Mom. We also wish to thank Mom's aide Tosya Kuegler who faithfully stayed with Mom and took great care of her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Waddell Presbyterian Church in Rapidan, Va., at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Blue Ridge Area Foodbank-Mom always wanted to support this organization-or give to Hospice of the Piedmont.

I am sorry for the loss of Shirley. She was a wonderful lady and a long time resident of Keswick.
