Barry Jacob Arthur Binney, 35, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away at home on Monday, June 19, 2017. Born onNovember 15, 1981, he was the son of Karen J. P. Binney and the late Michael Andrew Binney, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his faithful dog, Skye. Barry worked as a chef at several locations. He spent a year at Augusta Country Club in Georgia. He was a chef at Keswick Club, where he started his career, Keswick Hall, and Farmington Country Club. Most recently he worked at Mas Tapas bar in Charlottesville. Binney is survived by his mother; a brother, Michael A. Binney, Jr.; two sisters, Michele McCauley and Marsha Binney; seven nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends; and by his beloved pets, dogs Rocky, Kelsey and Sage, and Sammy the cat. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, in the Chapel at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, with Rabbi Heena Reiter and Latifa B. Kropf officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Barry's honor be made to P'nai Yisrael Chavurah, 3160 Waverly Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901, or to a local charity of your choice. Barry was a great guy all around and he will truly be missed. He was full of life and lit up the room wherever he went. We'll always have the awesome memories of hanging out together and attending UVa football games and other social events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and closest friends.
