Beverly Ann Stuart Samuelson

Beverly Ann Stuart Samuelson was born on August 27, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Harold and Annie Stuart. Her maternal grandparents were Sarah Irwin and John Lewis, paternal grandparents were Mark and Nellie Stuart who were pioneers in Urbandale, Iowa."Bev" married Eugene Curtis Samuelson on April 8, 1951.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene); their children, Lisa Nelson of Charlottesville, Va., Mark Samuelson of Arizona, and Julia Samuelson Moriniere and husband, Bernard, of France; grandchildren, Nicole Moriniere and husband, Yannick Brunner, Jonathan Nelson and wife, Elizabeth, Jeremiah Samuelson and wife, Holly, Luc Moriniere, Amanda Nelson and husband, James Jennings, and Benjamin Samuelson and wife Anna; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Spolar; numerous nieces and nephews. Her loved siblings Harriet Grandquist and Roger Stuart passed before her.
Beverly attended Augustana College. She enjoyed work as a legal secretary including twenty years at the Iowa State Legislature. Bev enjoyed reading — including to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener bringing in vegetables for the year; and a long-time knitter - known for knitting baby sweaters for layettes that were sent through Lutheran World Relief to many countries; and stocking caps for the homeless in Charlottesville. She loved travelling throughout the USA and abroad, enjoyed winters in Venice, Florida and summers at Clear Lake, Iowa where she organised an annual joint birthday for all her grandchildren.
Beverly was actively engaged in volunteer work throughout her life, even through her 80s when she and her husband transported Meals on wheels. Bev was a member of the Dorcas Quilting Circle at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice, Fla., a 50-year member of the National TTT Philanthropic Society, and of the Urbandale Historical Society.
A service will be held April 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. in Charlottesville, Va., at Christ Episcopal Church.
