William Rhea Bond Jr. "Socky" William Rhea Bond Jr. "Socky," 85, of Palmyra, Virginia, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2014, was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William R. Bond; and his mother, Elizabeth Graham Robinson Bond. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Alice Lane Bond. He is also survived by a sister, Valerie Bond Hall and her husband, Tom; four children, William R. Bond III and his wife, Tracy, James A. Bond and his wife, Barbara, Elizabeth Sue Barnes, Richard Graham Bond and his wife, Mary Alice. He has seven grandchildren, Jennifer Martin Voyles, Jamie C. Bond, Sara Bond McGann. Joshua A. Bond, Lisa Spencer, Marianne Barnes Crowley, and Patrick A. Bond; and also nine great-grandchildren. He was so proud and loved his family. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of VFW Post No. 1827, American Legion Post No. 2003 and 50 year member of King Solomon's Masonic Lodge No. 194 A.F. & A.M., Crozet, Virginia. A Celebration of Life service with Masonic rites will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014, at King Solomon's Lodge, Crozet, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to King Solomon's Masonic Lodge, P.O. Box 8141, Charlottesville, VA 22906; Hospice of the Piedmont 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy., Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 www.hopva.org; Lake Monticello Rescue Squad, 10 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA 22963; or the charity of their choice.
