Cabell Henry

Henry Lee Cabell Henry Lee Cabell of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born in Charlottesville Virginia, on July 25, 1931, the son of the late William and Amy Gaines-Cabell of Charlottesville. He was the husband of Ruth Hicks-Cabell. Henry was predeceased in death by one son, Gregory V. Cabell. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age, and became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was an active member of the Ushers Ministry. He was a graduate of Jefferson School Class of 1951, where he was a member of the football team. He also was a graduate of Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia, Class of 1955, during this time he served in the United States Army for three years. Henry retired after 36 years of service from the City of Charlottesville as the Chief Mechanic. He was a devoted Washington Redskins fan, and enjoyed fishing and Auto-Mechanic. In addition to his wife, Ruth Cabell, he leaves to cherish his memory, six children, Patricia Cabell of Charlottesville, Virginia, Henry Cabell Jr. and wife, Angela, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Richard Cabell and wife, Stephanie, of Norfolk, Virginia, Wayne Cabell and wife, Wanda, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Jonathan Cabell of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Joseph Cabell of Sam Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Payne-Cabell of Charlottesville, Virginia; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 113 6th Street N.W., Charlottesville, Virginia, with Dr. Lehman D. Bates II officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. He will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
