"The Lights Have Dimmed and the Actress Has Taken One Final Gracious Curtain Call" Carol Cecelia Edlich (Taylor), 82, made her transition on March 26, 2019. Carol died peacefully at the Belmont Village Senior Living in Thousand Oaks, Calif., following several years with Alzheimer's disease. She was preceded in death by mother, Thelma Wollschleger; father, Elmer; brother, Dick; and former husband, Richard. She is survived by three children, Elizabeth Edlich of Malibu, Calif., Richard (Patricia Cooper) Edlich Jr. of St. Anthony Village, Minn., and Rachel Edlich of Topanga, Calif.; three grandchildren, Matthew, Forrest, and Sophia; sister, Jayne Taylor Sage of Rochester, N.Y.; brother, Thom Taylor of Rochester, N.Y., and many extended family members. Carol simply "lit up" any space in which she found herself! She knew great love and showed great love. Every song she sang was a reflection of this. From a role as Maria in "West Side Story" on Broadway, (replacing original lead, Carol Lawrence), Carol Taylor emerged into numerous starring roles in various communities. She married Richard Edlich, a surgery resident at the University of Minnesota. There she received starring roles in Minneapolis' local theaters, including the well-regarded Guthrie Theater. The family moved to Charlottesville, Va., and Carol focused on raising her children. Also she began to re-create a life for herself on stages in Virginia. She received great acclaim for her one-woman show at the local Culbreth Theater, - featuring John D'earth and his jazz ensemble, her second show featured old friends --Broadway writers Richard Maltby and David Shire. Many other performances followed in Charlottesville, with her close friend and accompanist, Pat Davis, including benefits for local charitable organizations, such as focused on the red cross.. The late Rob Vaughn, founder of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, perhaps said it best, "NOBODY can deliver a song like Carol Edlich!". Once you hear her rendition of "Memories" from the Broadway musical, Cats, you were convinced! On her upcoming birthday, Saturday, June 22, 2019, Carol's children and loved ones will gather for a Celebration of Life service in Rochester, N.Y., where Carol still has many family ties. Funeral and burial will be held at 11 a.m. at the Garland Cemetery in Brockport, N.Y. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

Carol and I were best friends in high school
We loved sharing ideas, having fun in so many ways and especially singing together in church, in school and everywhere we went. I was happy for her that she was able to go to NYC and sing with the best.
The class of 1954 from Nazareth Academy was sad to hear that Carol had died. The last time were saw her was on our 50th Anniversary. That was memorable.
