Charlene F. Shifflett, 87, of Stanardsville, Va., passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her home.
She was born on August 21, 1934, in Alexandria, Va., daughter of the late Russell Mahoney and Ethel Walters Mahoney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert R. Shifflett; sister, Helen Jones; and brother, Harold Mahoney.
Charlene is survived by her children, Elaine Whetzel (David Cobb), Ronald Shifflett, Donna Roach (Donnie), and Karen Hammack (Gary); sister, Alease Holley; grandchildren, Jeff Whetzel, Katelyn Wolfe (Tyler), and Michael Roach (Leah); great-grandchildren, Jaron Whetzel, Madelyn Roach, Lynnlee Wolfe, and Olivia Roach; and many other family members and friends.
To Charlene, family was everything. She always put others first before herself.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am.. Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Evergreen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Steven Holley officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the family and friends who visited her at home and in the hospital.
