Christopher Brian Graves, 35, of Amherst, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 1, 2023. He was the son of Mickey A. Graves and Pat Ann Taylor Lawhorne.
Born on August 31, 1987, Christopher was a skilled carpenter employed by the esteemed Alexander Nicholson, Inc. However, his talents extended far beyond his professional endeavors. Christopher's defining trait was his immense capacity for love and his unwavering commitment to spreading kindness wherever he went. As a devoted and nurturing father to his three children and three stepchildren, he found boundless joy in witnessing their growth and supporting them in every possible way. While Christopher possessed a strong work ethic, he understood the importance of balancing hard work with cherishing those dear to him. An ardent lover of the great outdoors, he often embarked on exhilarating motorcycle rides alongside the love of his life, reveling in the simple pleasure of being outside and sharing unforgettable moments together. What truly set Christopher apart was his ability to infuse his community with an aura of pure joy. His infectious spirit, coupled with his genuine kindness, left an indelible impression on everyone fortunate enough to have him in their lives. Christopher had an innate ability to uplift others, effortlessly brightening their days and reminding them of the goodness that exists in the world. He was a beloved presence, cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Christopher's legacy will forever be defined by his profound love, his unwavering dedication to spreading kindness, and his ability to foster a sense of joy wherever he went. His memory will continue to inspire and remind us of the importance of embracing each day with love, compassion, and a genuine desire to make the world a better place.
In addition to his parents those left to cherish Christopher's memory include his loving wife of 10 years, Jessica L. Pruitt; his children, Ryan Graves, Sophia Graves, and Penelope Graves of Florida; his stepchildren Sean Pruitt, Lilly Pruitt, Emma Pruitt of Amherst; his sister, Jenna Whitlock; and his stepfather, Johnny Lawhorn.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at our home in Amherst, at 338 Fletchers Level Rd., Amherst, Va.
