Lawrence Edward "Jack" Crenshaw Sr. , 89, "Jack" or "Mutt" as he was often called by relatives and friends of Charlottesville, Va., departed this life on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Albemarle County on March 7, 1929, the son of the late Randolph and Elizabeth Crenshaw. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria J. Luck; grandson, Gerald A. Luck; and two sisters, Lucille Carter and Mary Anderson. He retired from the University of Virginia in Food Service at Newcomb Hall with many years of service. He was educated in Albemarle County school system. Jack was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. His devotion to family and friends was commendable and his absence will leave a huge void, he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years of marriage, Christine E. Crenshaw. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Lawrence E. Crenshaw Jr. and Michael L. Crenshaw; two daughters, Patricia D. Crenshaw and friend, William and Vivian D. Sandridge and her husband, Larry, all of Charlottesville, Va.; two granddaughters, Reginia L. Luck of Charlottesville, Va., and Alicia L. Patterson and her husband, Quincy, of Fluvanna County; one grandson, Aaron D. Sandridge and friend, Alexis, of Charlottesville, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Dionte Ruffin, Cordaisia Ruffin, Camren Woodson, and Cayson Sandridge, all of Charlottesville; four nephews, Daniel Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Edward Carter, and Thomas Carter, all of Charlottesville; one niece, Edna Carter Hearns and her husband, James, of Ruckersville, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Watkins and Ruth Goodloe; one brother-in-law, William Walker; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services. The family would like to thank Dr. John B. Schorling of UVA his primary physician for his special concern for Dad's healthcare throughout the years. Thanks also to the Hospice of the Piedmont. J. F.
