Darlene Avis Hoffman, 80, of Ruckersville, departed from this life to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at the Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center.She was born on October 7, 1934, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to the late Cecil Eugene and Minnie Ola Raines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald "Beady" Raines.Darlene is survived by her husband of 58 wonderful years, Joel Hoffman; two sisters, Marjorie Madison and her husband, Bill and Doris Conley and her husband, Roger; four children, Jerry Hoffman and his wife, Danielle, Jeanette McCauley and her husband, John, Phyllis Shifflett and her husband, Dale and Tom Hoffman and his wife, Denise; 12 grandchildren, Josh Hoffman, Joe Hoffman, Jessica Nilo and her husband, Carl, Justin McCauley and his wife, Dana, Jonathan McCauley and his wife, Susan, Kenneth Gilbert, Kyle Shifflett, Kristen Shifflett, Grant Hoffman, Alex Hoffman, Bryce Hoffman, and Paige Hoffman; 11 great grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Hoffman, Chase and Jayden Nilo, Madison and Marshall McCauley, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Lance McCauley, and Dallas and Gavin Gilbert; and many other loving family members and friends.She grew up in Geer, Virginia, and worked for 30 years for the Greene County School System. Darlene loved the outdoors, her flowers and her beloved dog, Buddy.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, with Pastor Glenn Shifflett officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers will be Darlene's grandsons, Kenneth Gilbert, Josh Hoffman, Justin McCauley, Jonathan McCauley, Joe Hoffman, Kyle Shifflett and Grant Hoffman (honorary).Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to the Stanardsville United Methodist Church Youth Group, P.O.
