Darwin Rossman Obituary

Darwin Lucien Rossman, 90, of Charlottesville, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at his residence.

He was born June 21, 1925, in Homer, Mich., to the late Don Rossman and Kathryn Whitcomb Rossman.

He was retired from the United States Geological Survey. During his 30 year career with the survey, he lived and worked in Alaska, The Philippines, Liberia, Pakistan and Colombia, S.A.

Outside his career, he had many interests including wood-working, metal-lathing, orchid horticulture, photography, scuba diving, gardening and local geology.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Rossman; sister, Lennagene Stratton; his brother, Edward Rossman and a nephew, Judd Hildebrant.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Jane Rossman and their five children, Peter Rossman, Mary Downey and her husband, Eben, Mark Rossman, Kim Gayle and her husband, Wade and Jill Sellers and her husband, Eric. He is also survived by one sister, Priscilla Osborn and her husband, Ollie; as well as six grandchildren, Theresa Downey, Daniel Gayle, Michelle Downey, Sara Gayle, Laurel Sellers and Kate Sellers.
