Mary Florence Spears Durrett, 87, beloved sister, mother, mema, aunt and friend, formerly of Crozet, Virginia, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.She was a resident of Trinity Mission Health & Rehab of Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born in Nelson County, Virginia on December 26, 1927, to the late Massie D. and Isabelle Dawson Spears. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, the Reverend Horace E. Spears, and a sister, Clara D. Givens.She retired from ConAgra and was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church.She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Sterling W. Durrett, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Matthew J. Durrett and wife, Doris, and Anthony A. Durrett, all of Crozet, Virginia; one daughter, Mary Ellen Durrett of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great- great- grandchildren; a devoted sister, Kathleen Spears Harmon; and a host of other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Crozet Baptist Church, 5804 St. George Avenue, Crozet, Virginia. Interment will follow at the Spears Family Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
