Edwin I. Marks
Edwin I. Marks, age 92, of Orange, Va., died peacefully on February 27, 2022, in his home with his loving wife, Dot, at his side.
Ed was born on September 9, 1929, in Terre Hill, Pa. Ed received his associate degree as an electrician from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, Pa. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army from June 1950 through July 1954 and was a Korean War veteran.
Ed worked for multiple organizations for many years as a maintenance supervisor. He retired from Klockner Pentaplast of America in 1994. He was a long-time loyal member of The American Legion in Orange and the Lion's Club.
Ed was the life of every party and was a master of many shenanigans, he was the first to arrive and the last on the dance floor at many events and celebrations. He attended the Montpelier Hunt races for many years and his sharp whistle and bellowing voice could be heard all over Orange County when he cheered for the horse that held his quarter bet.
Ed was an avid UVA basketball and football fan and he and Dot (his wife of 31 years) loved to travel in their retirement years. Ed greatest love and deepest passion was time spent making memories with his and Dot's families.
He is survived by his wife, Dot; four children, Judy Clark (Don), Joe Marks (Sarah), Mike Marks, and Karen Spencer (Tim); granddaughters, Jennifer Melnyk (Michael) and Jessica Woodcock (Caleb Bishop); grandson, Dean Clark; and four great-grandchildren, Kailey, Maeson, Kole and Kinsley.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Bertha Keenan Marks, and sisters Thelma Saylor and Mildred Slick.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. followed by 11 a.m. service Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Preddy Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will be immediately following the service at Holly Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Charlottesville, Va.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Robert Jackson from Visiting Angels, for his care and compassion expressed to Ed during his final days. Although Robert's time with Ed was short, his care, commitment and dedication to Ed and to the family was immense.
