Eileen Elizabeth Schuder Moyer

1927 - 2023

Eileen Elizabeth Schuder Moyer, 96, departed this life and entered eternal life on December 4, 2023.

Eileen, born November 27, 1927 in Covington, VA, was the daughter of William Maxwell Schuder and Estelle Simmons Schuder. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Calvin V. Moyer and her sister Jean Schuder Stronski.

She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eileen was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Chancel Choir, a member of Circle #5 and a volunteer in the church office. She worked at the Virginia Department of Forestry for 19 years and was a secretary for Woodbrook Elementary School for 21 years.

Eileen enjoyed many years as a volunteer at the Senior Center. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 74 and a member of the BPOE Elks Doe Auxiliary.

Eileen enjoyed being involved and active in every position she had, and being around all her friends, especially Barbara. She was very appreciative to all those who would bring things to her when she was sick or could not get out on her own.

Eileen's family would like to extend special thanks to Eileen's PCP, Dr. Lindsay Friesen, M.D. for her years of attentive care, and to Dr. William S. Knight, M.D. and the team of compassionate Nurses at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, and to the staff at RoseWood Assisted Living at Greenbrier for providing the care and setting which prompted Eileen to write "I love living here".

Memorials may be made to Sentara Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center and the Chancel Choir of the Charlottesville First United Methodist Church located at 101 E. Jefferson St., Charlottesville, VA 22902.

A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Monticello Memory Gardens, Charlottesville. First United Methodist Pastor Rev. Alex Joyner will officiate.
