Elvin Eugene "Tommy" Thompson, Jr., age 86, of Crozet, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 27, 1938, in South Carolina, Tommy was the eldest of five children of the late Elvin and Lula Thompson. He graduated from St. Vincent High School in Newport News, VA.

Tommy met the love of his life, Betty Robinson, at Copeland Park Methodist Church. They were married on January 17, 1959, and shared 66 wonderful years together.

He worked at The Daily Progress until his retirement in 2002 and was a devoted member of Hillsboro Baptist Church in Crozet. Tommy had a passion for woodworking, fishing, and, most of all, spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Betty Thompson; his son, Brian Thompson (Kelli); and his two daughters, Lori Marsh (the late Greg) and Tonya LaRose (Steve). He is also survived by his four sisters: Carolyn Bobola (Bob), Linda Johnson (Jimmy), Janice Ashe (Donnie), and Sandra Wilson. Tommy leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, along with a large extended family and many dear friends who will deeply miss him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Crozet, VA. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Resort Casual Attire is Requested.
