Jean Reed Ferguson, 84, of Gordonsville, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 22, 1930, in Mayfield, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Reed and Laura Edwards Reed. She was the wife of the late Dewey Ferguson.Mrs. Ferguson was a retired teacher from Louisa County Public Schools and a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church where she was a former minister of music. She is survived by one daughter, Glenda Maphis and husband, Michael of Louisa; three sons, Billy Ferguson of Ruckersville, James Ferguson of Tennessee, and Hilary Ferguson of Gordonsville; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Howard Reed. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 21, 2015, at Mechanicsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Riddell officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mechanicsville Baptist Church Relief Fund, 10200 Louisa Road, Gordonsville, VA 22942. Preddy Funeral Home of Gordonsville assisted the family.
