Frank Farmer Obituary

Frank Linkous Farmer, 85, formerly of Norton, died Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Norton Community Hospital.

Born in Tazewell County, Virginia, to the late Fred and Sarah (Nunley) Farmer, he was a retired mechanic with Paramont Mining Corporation.

Mr. Farmer, of the Pentecostal faith, was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was a co-founder of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, where he was fondly referred to as "The Boss".

He is survived by his wife Mae Farmer; his children (and spouses), Helen (Russell) Nunley, of Bluefield, West Virginia, Billie (and the late, Bob) Chappell, of Waynesboro, Virginia, Linda (Dick) Beverly, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Terry (and the late Ivan) Hughes, of Afton, Virginia, Johnny William (Jearline) Farmer, of Norton, Frank Daniel (Sherri) Farmer, of Duffield, Debra (Roger) Addison, of Norton, Edward (Deborah) Farmer, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Robert Darryl Farmer of Norton, and Lisa (Greg) Barnett, of Norton, and his wife, previously, Katherine Varacalli. There are 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as a host of close friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007, at the Hagy and Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007, at the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Freddie Powers and the Reverend Tommy Shell officiating.

Family and friends will gather 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at the funeral home where they will travel in procession to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for graveside committal and burial. Units from the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department will provide escort for the funeral procession.

Arrangements are provided through Hagy and Fawbush Funeral Home of Norton.
