Gerald Peter Shea, 88, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024. Born in Chicago, IL, on April 14, 1936, Jerry was a passionate Irish-American, a proud retired Marine sergeant, and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan who, after 80 years, finally saw a World Series win for his beloved Cubbies. After leaving the Marines, Jerry had a successful career in banking and commercial leasing before retiring and spending the last 20 years in Charlottesville, VA. Jerry loved music, from classical to country, long lunches with his friends, classes at OLLI, and puzzles and games of all types. Most of all, Jerry deeply loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Gail; his children, Phil, Steve, Eileen, and Nick; his daughters-in-law, Linda, Sue, and Alice; his grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, Matt, and Danny; his grandchildren-in-law, Morgan, Nick, Amanda, and Molly; and his great-grandchildren, Eloise and Henry. As Jerry would say with a smile: "May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and may you be in heaven 20 minutes before the Devil knows you're gone."

So sorry to learn of Jerry´s passing. We were honored to meet him at the wedding and thoroughly enjoyed his company. I know he will be deeply missed by all the family and many friends he had. Sincere condolences to all.
