John Shea Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Main Office on Feb. 10, 2026.
John David Shea Jr., of Plymouth, Massachusetts, passed away on February 4, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him, a room full of opinions, and a silence that feels unfamiliar without his voice filling it.

John was predeceased by his parents, Gloria M. Shea and John D. Shea Sr., and by his sister Donna A. Green.

He is survived by his daughter Amanda Shea and her children Blake and Kinsley, who brought him pure joy, endless smiles, and some of his happiest moments. He is also survived by his sons Ryan Shea (and his wife Reshma) and Justin Shea.

He is further survived by his brothers Dave Shea (and his wife Pam Shea), Kevin Shea (and his wife Martie Shea), and Paul David Shea, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and people who crossed his path and never quite forgot the experience.

John spent many years as a respected real estate agent, known for his confidence, persistence, and ability to talk to absolutely anyone. Later in life, he traded listings for passengers and became the world's slowest Uber driver, where the ride almost always came with commentary, opinions, and very little urgency.

He never missed a chance to debate, especially about politics, and family dinners were rarely just about the food. Conversations were loud, passionate, occasionally uncomfortable, and always very John. Agreeing didn't end the discussion, and disagreeing guaranteed dessert would be delayed.

John will be remembered for his sarcasm, his stubbornness, his humor, and the way he showed love without ever being overly sentimental. He lived life his way, said what he thought, and left behind memories that will forever be followed by laughter and a head shake.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

In John's honor, say what you mean, don't rush the ride, and never underestimate the power of a good argument.
