Michael Joseph West of Weymouth, MA

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Joseph West, who died unexpectedly on January 28, 2026, at the age of 55.

A devoted husband, brother and friend, he loved to fish, read and hang out with his beloved cats. Mike was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and sarcastic sense of humor. To spend time with him was to laugh loud and long. He was a true animal lover and enjoyed reading about science, particularly astronomy.

A native of Braintree, Mike is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Claire Lord West and Lawrence Albert West and in-laws, Patti and Steve Langley. Mike was also predeceased by his brother, Edward Francis West, with whom he was close and always missed.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Erin Murphy, who devoted much of her time to his care, especially since his illness in 2020. His surviving siblings include Robert West and his wife Kim of Plymouth, MA, Diane West of Plainville, MA, Patricia West and her husband, David Hothem, of Birmingham, AL, Lawrence West Jr. of Aiken, SC, Margaret McAdam and her husband Scott of Vero Beach, FL, and Kathleen Bennett and her husband Jeff of Madison, AL. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother-in-law James Murphy and his wife Sara of Plymouth, MA; his sister-in-law Kelli Desilets and her husband John of Bridgewater, MA; his sister-in-law Melissa Langley and her partner Ricardo Gonzalez of Amherst, NH.

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Mike.

Vistation with the West family will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the CARTMELL - DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 373 Court Street, Plymouth, MA (next to Cordage Park) from 2:00PM - 4:00PM, followed by a service at 4:00PM.
