Goodwin Bland "G.B." RobertsonGoodwin Bland "G.B." Robertson, 94, of Charlottesville, went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, March 24, 2016. G.B., as he was known to many friends, was born in Albemarle County on May 22, 1921, to Jenner Orville Robertson, Sr., and Elsie Pritchett Robertson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Sandridge Robertson; and his two brothers, Jenner O. Robertson, Jr., and Mason Ralph Robertson.G.B. attended Miller School of Albemarle, Class of 1939. He was a life member of the Alumni Association and was a recipient of the Duke Martin Award. He was employed at Essex Pencil Corporation from 1940 until 1966. He retired from Comdial in 1984 after 18 years.G.B. became a member of the Charlottesville Moose Lodge #1028 at age 23. He was a past Governor and holds the Fellowship Degree. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville, but has attended Belmont Baptist Church since 1956. G.B. was known for his beautiful vegetable garden.Survivors include his son, Michael B. Robertson and his wife, Lila; their children, Jennifer Branham (James), and Scott Robertson (Rebecca); his daughter, Deborah R. Lane and her husband, Edgar; and her daughter, Tonya Kermon (Dave). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Caleb and McKenna Branham, Lillyan, Jacob and Noah Robertson, Haley Breeden, Gabriella and Matt Kermon. G. B.'s dog, Lily, was his best friend.The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Belmont Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Anderson, Mr. Scott Carter and Mr. Stan Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.Donations in his memory may be made to Belmont Baptist Church, 830 Monticello Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hillandwood.com.
