Jeffrey Burton Obituary

Jeffrey "Jeff" Edwin Burton entered eternal rest on Friday, January 13, 2023. He was born on November 22, 1962, in Queens, New York, to James Edwin Burton and Helen Jones-Burton. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Jeff developed his Christian faith at an early age, where he was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church, in Charlottesville Virginia.

Jeff attended school in Queens, New York and Albemarle County, Virginia. He furthered his education by attending International Beauty School in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he obtained his Cosmetology Certification. He later attended Tervor Sorbie Academy, London, dealing specifically with hair designing techniques and creative inspirations.

He used every talent at his disposal – he was an extraordinary hair stylist, in which he created and supervised uniquely talented hair designers throughout his careers at Shear Pleasure, Reflections, Midtown Hair Design, and Giannini Hair Salons, all of Charlottesville, Virginia. Jeff was vibrant and energetic, and he was a maverick in his profession.

Jeff leaves to cherish his memories his devoted father, James E. Burton and stepmother, Joyce; his brother, Craig S. Burton (Cathie); niece, India Burton; nephews, Steven Burton, Anthony Bryant, and Anthony Garland Jr.; a great nephew, Yazerious Burton; aunts, Nancy Jones, Corrine Burton, and Beatrice Burton; a beloved cousin, Asia Washington; countless other cousins and relatives; as well devoted friends, Gerry Yemen, Renee Mills, Veronica Ross, and Doug Gibson.

Every individual Jeff encountered was undoubtedly changed after coming into his presence. Jeff was a connoisseur of food, music, and fashion. He unquestionably loved his family and demonstrated as such at family functions by clowning and acting as the comedian. Jeff also loved his cats, Cleo, and Mookie, making it clear that these furry animals were his kids.

Jeff will be missed and celebrated for his light and spirit that he spread to all he encountered in his 60 years on this side.

A memorial service to remember Jeffrey's life will be held at the Hill & Wood Funeral Home, 201 North 1st Street, Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11 a.m.

Some laughs cannot be forgotten and Jeff had one of those. It will be missed dearly. However, I am grateful he did so much of it and that he also gave us so many laughs to remember him by.

We miss you, brother!

Dad, I cannot say enough how sorry I am for your loss. From the time I met Jeff here at the hospital I knew he was someone special. After having read the caption, I never knew just how awesome he was. God bless you and your family as you mourn his loss but most certainly celebrate his life and to continue to live and Praise God for the time you spent together. I love you dearly Dad.
