John Burton Obituary
He was born November 10, 1940, in North Garden, Virginia, the son of Edward R. Burton Jr. and the late Lula Byers Burton.
He was a member of the Rising Sun Baptist Church, North Garden, and a retired contractor.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Edward.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Burton; three sons, Jonathan Darnell Burton of Charlottesville, Keith William Garland and John Demetrius Burton and his wife, Rachel, both of Fluvanna County; three daughters, Annette "Tina" Burton and Kim Burton, both of Charlottesville, and Tia Shelton of Fluvanna County; two brothers, Gene Burton and his wife, Katherine, of North Garden, and Lloyd Burton of Laurel, Maryland; one sister, Olivia Hill of North Garden; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Rising Sun Baptist Church, North Garden, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Beverley Walker. Interment in the Burton Family Cemetery.
The body will be in the church 2 hours before service.
Pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Olivia Hill, 3860 Moncan Trail Road, North Garden, VA.
Lewis Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is in charge of the service.

To my family, I am sorry that I was not able to make the funeral due to my husband & I having to work. But our prayers are with everyone and although it will not be easy, I will try to still keep everyone laughing. We must stay strong, stick toghether and do God's will. We have lost several family members now and we need to become serious and close. We never know when our time is coming so let's get right with GOD.
