Ernest Eugene Johnson, age 97, of Orange, passed away on February 21, 2018, at Dogwood Village in Orange, Va. Mr. Johnson was born in Orange County to the late Robert Olie Johnson and Grace Mae Martin Johnson Breeden. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary Knight Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a World War II Veteran and an electrical engineer at Sperry Marine Co. until his retirement. He worked as an electrician part time at Virginia Metal Co. after retirement. He was a member of Gordonsville Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson loved to make cement flower pots, wooden clocks and other wood crafts. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Peyton and her husband, Cecil of Gordonsville and Judie Sacra of Louisa; his son, Bobby Vogt and his wife, Dolly of Barboursville; his half-sister, Sue Breeden; three grandchildren, Lorinda, Robby, and Dwayne; two great grandchildren, Vickie and Christopher; nieces, Cynthia Magera and her husband, Mike and Sandra Magera; his nephew, Mike Magera; and his beloved dog, Missie Marye. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, James Sacra; his brother, Robert Olie Johnson, Jr.; his sisters, Nellie Gray Johnson Tweedy and Gladys Mae Johnson. We would like to thank Kris Lacy and Sharon Jones of Hospice of the Piedmont and all for all the kindness from the nurses at Dogwood Village for their support. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Holly Memorial Gardens of Charlottesville, Va. The service will be co-officiated by Pastor Wayne Collis and Pastor Carmon Hartsfield. The family has entrusted Preddy Funeral Home with arrangements.
