Dennis James Jordan, 64, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Born April 3, 1951 in Rome, New York, he was the son of Anna Mae Callahan and James Leroy Jordan. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim. A graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York, and the University of Pennsylvania, he spent much of his childhood in Europe with his brothers and sisters while his father served to make peace after World War II. Living in Charlottesville since 1982, Dennis coached, officiated, coordinated, rooted on, and participated in every aspect of athletics in the Charlottesville area, and was deeply proud of his children's involvement and accomplishments (especially when he was the coach). He attended mass at The Church of Incarnation and St. Thomas Aquinas, and felt at peace most while at services, reconnecting him to his days as an altar boy in Europe and upstate New York. Survived by his sons, Matt and Mark; his daughter, Erin; his brothers, Bob and Dan; sisters, Judy, Connie, and Beth; and his best friend, Janet Adams. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Charlottesville, Virginia, followed by a burial service at Monticello Memory Gardens of Charlottesville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Thomas Aquinas (https://e-giving.org/egivinglogin.asp?id=3722).
