Kinloch Mahone Obituary

Kinloch Scott Mahone

Kinloch Scott Mahone, age 35, passed away on October 27, 2021, in Irvine, Calif., where he resided. Scott was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and has left a huge void for those he left behind.

Born on September 10, 1986, Scott was a graduate of The Covenant School where he excelled in several sports. He was a fierce competitor, and most recently was an avid golfer, weight lifter, boxer, and Mudder race participant. His friends and family agree that Scott was one of the funniest people we have ever known. His larger-than-life personality just filled a room the moment he entered, and he loved ALL people. There wasn't a stranger he didn't know or a smile he kept to himself. He always held a positive outlook and optimistic attitude, and filled the walls in his home with his favorite quotes and scripture verses. Whenever anyone spent time with Scott, they always left his presence feeling better than they had before the encounter. This was a beautiful gift Scott shared freely.

Scott attended Radford University, majoring in business administration and marketing. He pursued a very successful 13-year career in finance, which eventually evolved into becoming a mortgage broker like his father. He was fearless and a true Go-Getter in every sense of the word. He loved a challenge.

He leaves behind his dear wife, Revathy, and his precious 3-month-old son, Gordon Mahone, whom he absolutely adored. When Gordon was born a little early, weighing in at only 5 pounds, Scott and Revathy camped out at the hospital for a full week waiting for Gordon to be released. The nurses at the hospital had to scold Scott numerous times for holding Gordon above his head "like Simba". Scott was so proud, and wanted the world to see!

Scott is the beloved son of Alice Clay Mahone and Thomas David Mahone of Charlottesville, Va., and the cherished brother of Stephen Clay Mahone, of Alexandria, Va. He also leaves behind his dear grandmother, Grace Fielding Mahone of Charlottesville, Va., his devoted aunts and uncles, and his many cousins.

Scott held an unshakeable faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which is a great comfort to all of us in this time of unimaginable sorrow.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 High St., Charlottesville, VA 22902. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to "GORDON MAHONE IRRV TR" are appreciated. (Gordon Mahone Irrevocable Trust has been established to aid in Gordon's future education.) Checks can be mailed to Alice Mahone, Trustee, 2101 Wingfield Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22901, or to Morgan Stanley (Attn: Alex Mann) 1775 I St, NW, Ste 200, Washington, DC 20006.
