Jean Louis Larsen, 87, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020, at The Hospice House on Park Street in Charlottesville, Va. Jean was born on October 3, 1932, to the late Dr. Louis C. Gaugier and late Agnes Larsen Gaugier of Paris, France. Jean was a resident of Charlottesville, Va., with his wife, Wilma G. Larsen. Jean is survived by his wife, Wilma, of Charlottesville; a stepdaughter, Katherine Poe of Webster Groves, Mo.; a stepson, James M. Luck, III and his wife, Kara Luck, of Charlottesville, Va. Jean is also survived by his sisters, Dr. Christiane Joost-Gaugier of Washington, D.C., and Dr. Evonne Gaugier of Puget-Ville, France; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four nieces. Jean was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Gaugier; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Caritj. Jean was a veteran of the United States Army and attended Harvard University and the University of Virginia Medical School. Jean was a great outdoorsman and preferred to be outside digging, planting and tending to his garden. Jean loved white water rafting, mountain climbing, hiking and reading. He successfully climbed the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Teague Funeral Home will be assisting the family with a private service for Jean and invites others to sign the online guestbook with loving comments. The family would like to thank all of Jean's doctors along the way and especially The Hospice of the Piedmont for helping him in his last days, www.hopva.org.
