My husband, Mark, left a tremendous legacy. Many of us knew him for his extraordinary kindness and intelligence. I knew his love, humor, strength, charm, and faithfulness. Strangers wrote me and still stop me on the sidewalk to say how struck they were by his unusual caring and evident love for me. He inspired many men to be better husbands without one word. I was happy to be his best friend and mate. Without him, I live with an infinately large and painful sadness in my heart.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Petterson. I was a client of his and had no idea that he had passed until last week. He was a very kind and caring person. He helped me and my family so much and I will never forget him for that. God bless your family and I'm so glad I had the chance to have met such a nice person.

My brilliant and sweet brother Mark would have been so touched (as am I) by these kind memories of his friends, colleagues, and clients! Even on the very day he learned that he had only a short time to live, he worked to ensure that the needs of his and Gail's clients would still be met. He had a good heart and a gentle soul.
The memorial service for Mark in the U VA Chapel on Saturday, May 13 has had to be postponed due to illness in the family. I will post to this site when it's rescheduled.

I was Mark's secretary for 6 years. He was wonderful and caring --such a big heart and full of life! He loved his work - and knowing that he changed the lives of many clients. I didn't think of Mark as my boss, but as a really good friend who has taught me so much. I am very glad that I had the opportunity to work at Ogle & Peterson. I will greatly miss him.

Mark, as brother to my friend Laura, I knew you only briefly, but for me your sense of humor came through plenty. I am sure the void you leave behind in friends and work is huge. Much love to Gail, surely at such a time. Dede Hollowell

I wish I had known my dear cousin better. Truly, he had a heart of gold. I'm sure he treated his clients with the most upright, caring service. I deeply respect his depth of character, and believe that he embodied Shakspeare's line, "To thine own self be true." I honor him in my heart with my whole spirit.
