Matt Lawrence Svoboda

March 8, 1977 - May 19, 2025

Matt Lawrence Svoboda, 48, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away at home on May 19, 2025. Born in Johnson City, N.Y., on March 8, 1977, to Joseph and Sharon Svoboda, Matt was a beloved son, brother and friend.

A graduate of Seton Catholic Central High School and the State University of New York at Binghamton, with a degree in computer science, Matt worked as a software developer.

He will be remembered for his love of sports and games of all types, his love for his family, and especially for his sense of humor. He was always ready to joke and smile. He will be missed dearly by his family.

Matt is survived by his mother, Sharon Svoboda of Charlottesville, Va.; sister Susan (Mick) Reynolds of Liverpool, N.Y.; brother Bart (Tammy) Svoboda of Ruckersville, Va.; brother Karl (Monica) Svoboda of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and by nieces Tiffany Svoboda, Lexi (Michael) Fowler, Margaret Reynolds, and Sharon Reynolds.

He is preceded in death by his brother Gary Svoboda and father Joseph Svoboda.

The celebration of his life will be private.
