Nancy Jones Obituary

Nancy Jones

June 5, 1949 - June 24, 2024

Nancy A Jones (Taylor), age 75, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2024 after a courageous three and a half year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, John Scott Jones; her sons Jeremy A. Jones (Vishal) of Jersey City, NJ and Zachary S. Jones (Danielle) of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by her 3 brothers, Gary Taylor (Carlene) of Buffalo, NY, Glen Taylor (Kate) of Cape Coral, FL, Dave Taylor of East Amherst, NY; her sister-in-law Dr. Melissa Jones Cantekin (Erdem) of Santa Barbara, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was born and raised in Kenmore, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, NY. She graduated from SUNY Fredonia, NY and received her Masters of Education degree from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. Nancy touched many young minds as an elementary school teacher for 20 years in the Iroquois school district outside of Buffalo, NY, as well as her prestigious participation on many assignments in children's education with Literacy Volunteer of America in Buffalo, NY.

On her husband's retirement, they moved to Sarasota, FL, where they spent 11 happy years before deciding to relocate to the village of Crozet in central VA to be closer to their sons.

Nancy was a wonderful wife, a terrific mother, and a kind and good person, with a smile for all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all.

The family will be receiving friends at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, VA, between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5th.

In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to the Emily Couric Cancer Center Charlottesville, VA 22908.
