Louisiana (Anderson) Palmer, 91, of Bremo Bluff, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born July 4, 1925, to the late William T. Anderson and Jennie Coleman. She was raised by her devoted grandmother, the late Louisiana Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Harry Lee Palmer Sr.; a son, Harry Lee Palmer Jr.; seven brothers, William Anderson Jr., Clarence Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Eugene Anderson, Charles Anderson, Bernard Roberts and Fred Lewis; and two sisters, Barbara Opie and Dorothy Armstrong.Louisiana was a beloved and devoted wife, a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a dear friend to many. There was nothing she wouldn't do to help someone in need. She enjoyed shopping, taking long rides, gardening and family gatherings. She joined the Pleasant View Baptist Church as an early age and she was an active member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church until her health began to decline. She served on the hospitality committee and was also a member of the Missionary Circle. She was employed by the Fork Union Military Academy for many years and by Morton Frozen Foods.She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Mayme Johnson of Fork Union, Va., and Linda Hackney of Bremo Bluff, Va.; five sons, Joe William Palmer (Dolores) of Palmyra, Va., Robert Wayne Palmer (Marie) of Arvonia, Va., Steven Palmer (Melissa) of Palmyra, Va., Vincent Palmer of Charlottesville, Va., and Arnold Lee Palmer of Bremo Bluff, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Alice Palmer of New Canton, Va.; a devoted sister, Queen James; and sisters, Lorraine Roberts and Harriett Gray (James); one brother, Michael Palmer; nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, and Thursday, October 13, 2016, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Colbert Funeral Home, Bremo Bluff, Virginia.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Cloverdale Baptist Church, Bremo Bluff, Virginia, with the Reverend Charles Lewis officiating.
