Richard Eppink Obituary

Richard Theodore Eppink

May 7, 1931 - September 18, 2025

Dr. Richard T. Eppink, our humble dad, died this past Thursday, September 18, 2025, in his 94th year. He lived a full life yet left us much too soon. Professor Emeritus of the University of Virginia, Department of Civil Engineering, he wanted only a brief obituary that says little more, concluding his final wishes with this epigram: "A modest man never talks of himself." Though we struggle not to say much more about his love, wisdom, and life-long service to his community, we honor his wishes with brevity. His two children, Ritchie and Anna Eppink, survive him; along with his former spouse, Leticia Ritchie Eppink; his sister-in-law, Marge Eppink; his nephew, Jim Eppink and his wife; and his niece, Diane Quintero, her husband, and their children. Donations may be made to two of the organizations to which he devoted much of his life: the Civil Engineering Fund at the University of Virginia and Partner for Mental Health, in Charlottesville, Va. No flowers! Condolences: P.O Box 453, Boise, Idaho 83701
