Cindy Eppink Obituary

Cindy Ann Eppink

Cindy Ann Eppink passed away suddenly and peacefully in her home on Sunday April 30, 2023, in the comfort of her loved ones. She was born on March 24, 1957, to her loving parents Harold and Lucille Strayer of Sylvania, Ohio. Cindy was a 1975 graduate of Sylvania High School. After graduation, she obtained her beautician's license. As the years passed, she worked many different jobs, but she ultimately found something that she loved in helping students as a paraprofessional in the Sylvania School District. In 2019, she retired as a school secretary.

Growing up, she helped her parents with the family farm where they were best known for growing and selling their pumpkins. Every Fall, you would see the teepee in the front yard of their family home on Central Avenue. This is where her work ethic was instilled in addition to her love of all things outdoors. Some of her hobbies included fishing, gardening, and playing games of all kinds where she always loved to win. The only people she so graciously let win by a slim margin were her grandchildren. Cindy also enjoyed gathering with friends she met along the way, those from work, and others in retirement. She and her husband of twenty plus years loved traveling, from the mountains to the seashore. She especially loved combing the beach in search of the perfect seashells.

Her family was her pride and joy; there wasn't a thing that she wouldn't sacrifice to make her family's lives more fulfilled. The thing that brought her the most joy was spending time with her grandchildren. From teaching them to cook, watching their sporting events, attending band and choir activities, playing games of all kinds with them - including pick up sticks, or just sitting down and reading a book with them. She could often be spotted in the backyard working with her grandchildren honing their skills.

She was a jack of all trades, and there wasn't a thing that she couldn't do or wasn't willing to learn how to do. She could do anything from canning a mean jar of pickles, sewing a pair of softball pants, or building a variety of things in the workshop with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Eppink; her children, Rick (Mandy), Craig (Angela), Kristin (Brandon); his children, Nora (Mike), Jennifer (Steven), Bruce Jr. (Meagan), Colleen (Josh); her grandchildren, Tyler (Trinity), Addison, Rachael, Landon, Taylor, Aubree, Barrett, Layla, Emma, Graham, Wyatt, Oliver, Wren, and awaiting the arrival of her first great-granddaughter; her siblings, Larry (Jennifer), Kathy (EJ), Steve (Mary Ann), and her many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lucille and her fur baby, Lacy.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St. Sylvania, Ohio 43560. There will be a service on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Reeb Funeral Home.

Cindy had spent many unselfish hours caring for her mother, who had suffered from Alzheimer's, and her mother-in-law, who is currently suffering from Alzheimer's. In lieu of flowers, we ask on her behalf that any contributions be made to The Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio Chapter. Online condolences to
