He was born on October 14, 1917, in Richmond, Virginia, the son of the late Roscoe S. Adams Sr. and Mabel McShane Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita White Adams, at the Colonnades; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Boyd Clark of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sisters, Jane Lile of Richmond, Missouri, Kathleen Lunsford of Roanoke, Virginia, and Betty Ann Rogers of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; one brother, William H. Adams and his wife, Harriett, of Charlottesville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Graham Clark of Tampa, Florida, and Jennifer Clark of Boulder, Colorado; a sister-in-law and brotherin-law, Shirley, and Warren Hanks of Louisa, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews, including Kathryn Markwood of Richmond, Virginia, Steve and Kathryn Markwood of Earlysville, Virginia, and Paula and Jim Pippin of Charlottesville, Virginia.

He grew up in Charlottesville and attended the University of Virginia. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II. He was a banker, starting at the Peoples National Bank in Charlottesville. He eventually transferred to Norfolk and retired as an executive officer from Virginia National Bank, now the Bank of America.

He was a member of the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and was active in the Kiwanis Club, both in Charlottesville and Virginia Beach. He enjoyed fishing, growing flowers, and feeding the birds at his backyard feeders. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for his generosity with his family and his community.

Visitation with family is planned from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, Virginia with the Reverend Robert Cofield of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, or a charity of the giver's choice.
