Slaughter P. Obituary

Ronald P. Slaughter, 83, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at his home at the Lodge at Old Trail.Born November 8, 1932, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Cecil (Robertson) Slaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna L. Bridgwater Slaughter.After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Ron returned to Charlottesville to attend the University of Virginia, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ron went on to work for many years at Sperry Marine. Ron was a founding member and served as Chief of the Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department. In retirement Ron enjoyed vegetable gardening and volunteering his time to the Charlottesville Voter Registrar.He is survived by his three sons, Ronald P. Slaughter, Jr., W. Jeffrey Slaughter, and John D. Slaughter; daughters-in-law, Kristen Spagnoletti, Kim Slaughter, and Carrie Allen Slaughter; grandchildren, Avery Slaughter, Aiden Slaughter, Rebecca Slaughter, Gabrielle Slaughter, Dylan Slaughter, and Mason Slaughter; brother, Tommy Slaughter, Jr.; and sister, Jane Sprouse; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Jefferson Park Baptist Church, with Pastor Keith Goad officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice, c/o CHA Foundation, 500 Faulconer Drive, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA22903, or the Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
