Reketta "Kate" Soubas Reketta "Kate" Soubas died on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Martha Jefferson House. Born on June 17, 1925, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Soubas and Georgia Korkosas Soubas. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Peter, Mary, Demetra, Pauline, and Sophie (Charlie Tomas); and cousins, Arthur Takes, Spiro Takes and Sophie Pappas. Reketta worked for the Albany City school system before moving to Charlottesville, and was the hostess at the Aberdeen Barn in Charlottesville, until her retirement several years ago. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Metamorphosis Soteros. She was also a member of the Ladies Progressive Society of the church. She loved music, children, her friends, but mostly her church and her family. She was especially close to her "boys" - Christopher, Matthew and Michael - and left a lasting impression on them. She will be especially missed by her cousin, Karen, and her family, of Albany, New York, and Peter and his family, of St. Louis, Missouri, and cousins Ted, Peter, Alex and Stacie, and their families of Connecticut, and cousins, Delores, Demetra, Faith and Stephanie. She is also survived by Billy Cokes and Edith Hatzikotelis; and many friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the Greek Orthodox Church, 100 Perry Drive, Charlottesville, Virginia, with Fr. Peter Rexinis officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The wake will be at Hill and Wood Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday December 17, 2013. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.hillandwood.com.
