Stephen Lindensmith Obituary

Beloved son, brother, and friend Stephen Michael Lindensmith, 39, died unexpectedly and peacefully at his home in Enfield, Connecticut on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Stephen was born on August 15, 1984, in Charlottesville, Virginia, and grew up one of six children in Earlysville, Virginia. He was a graduate of Albemarle High School, where he was active in the school's award-winning jazz band, marching band, and the Albemarle chorus, and he was on the praise music team at Maple Grove Christian Church during his youth. He attended Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, and he was a Navy veteran, serving with a Navy aviation unit stationed in Bahrain during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. He finished his Navy service at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, near Seattle, Washington, and obtained further avionics and electronics training at Blue Ridge Community College in Virginia. He then went to work for Gulfstream Avionics as a fast response team service crew lead in Westfield, Massachusetts. He was employed by Gulfstream at their Westfield hub and their Dulles Airport hub in Northern Virginia before moving back to the Westfield hub two years ago.

Stephen loved his family, his music, and his dogs, Radar and Gizmo. He enjoyed traveling, driving his Mustang GT, and trying new foods at new places - especially those featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

He was dearly loved by and is survived by his parents, Mark and Gaytha Lindensmith, Fort Defiance, Virginia; his sisters, Camille (Camy) Lindensmith, and her companion, Drew Jones, Charlotte, North Carolina; Laura (Lindensmith) Schliesske, and her husband Harold, Front Royal, Virginia; Rebecca (Lindensmith) Poulsen, and her husband, Jeff, Tega Cay, South Carolina; and his brothers, David Lindensmith, Charlottesville, and Philip Lindensmith, Charlottesville. He is also survived by three cherished nieces, Gracie, Emma, and Wren, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Vogel, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There will be a memorial service for Stephen at Cherry Avenue Christian Church, in Charlottesville, Virginia at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2024. The family will have a private burial service at a later date. The Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater, Virginia, is handling the arrangements to have Stephen brought home.
