Vickie L. Fairchild, of Charlottesville, VA passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at her sister's home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 26, 1958, in Roanoke, VA to Rita Fairchild, and the late Garland Fairchild.
Vickie was a loving mother, sister, daughter, friend to many, and healer. Vickie graduated from Virginia School of Massage to pursue a career in massage therapy. Throughout her career, she was self-employed and had her own practice as well as working at many spas as an admired massage therapist. She finished her career at ACAC at Albemarle Square serving her beloved clients in Charlottesville, Virginia for the last nine years. Vickie was a part of the best work family at ACAC where she helped heal her clients, being a friendly face to members and coworkers, and providing a safe place for so many people. Aside from her accomplishments within her massage therapy career, Vickie was passionate about personal training, nutrition, and helping others along their fitness journey.
She has always been the brightest light in every room and always knew how to make people laugh or smile. Vickie was the best ally for the LGBT community. She believed in love, kindness, and equality for all, and she truly fought for that. Vickie has always been so giving and her soul will live on through all of us. She cared immensely about the ones she held the closest and was the strongest woman we all know. Vickie lost her battle to breast cancer on Monday, October 30th, 2023, in the early morning after putting up one hell of a fight- as she said she would.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Alex Fairchild (and her partner, Kaylin Lewis); her sisters, Cindy Fairchild, and Terri Snow (and her husband, Joel); her nephew, Joshua Snow; her cats, Bowie, and Rebel; and her granddogs, Remy, and Kingsley.
A Celebration of Life to honor Vickie may be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Vickie's daughter, Alex, has started a fundraiser to help with Vickie's medical and memorial expenses. A percentage of donations will be sent to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on behalf of Vickie and her fight.
