Virginia Bishop Obituary

Virginia Lee Thacker Velasco Bishop, or better known as Ginny, 90, passed on October 10, 2025, in Williamsburg, VA.
Ginny was born in 1934 and was raised in Scottsville, VA, to Raymon and Emma Lou Thacker, both deceased; and had extended family in Critz, VA. She moved to New York after her marriage to Nelson S. Velasco and had four children. In 1972, the family moved to Virginia. Nelson and Ginny were married over 25 years. The Velasco family loved and embraced Ginny.
Ginny was a Planner with Siemens-Bendix, later named Allied-Signal Corp., and retired from them.
After her kids were grown and her divorce from Nelson, she changed her life. Ginny had fun and went dancing a lot. During this time, she found her second love with Arthur C. Bishop. Their marriage lasted 28 years before he passed, and they lived in Yorktown, VA.
Ginny is survived by her children, Doreen (Bob, deceased), Jamie (Becky), David, and Rick (Sari); 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also has a half-brother, Matthew, living in Scottsville, VA. Her other two brothers, Sonny and Arthur Thacker, have preceded her in death.
Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will miss her deeply.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Interment to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
