William Barbour Obituary

William Barbour Sr.

April 20, 1935 - April 5, 2021

William Barbour Sr. ,85, departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2021. He was born on April 20, 1935, in Charlottesville, Virginia, a son of the late Charlie Barbour and Mary Goins Barbour. He was the husband of Georgie Rebecca Barbour.

Two brothers, Harold W. Barbour and Norman Goins Sr. and a dear aunt, Lillie Mae Barbour preceded him in death.

William started as a farmer before gaining employment with Morton Frozen Foods and then Acme Visible Records, both in Crozet, Va. with employment lasting over 35 years. After which he was employed by Faulkner Construction until retirement. He also owned and operated his own lawn care and janitorial service companies on a part-time basis. He enjoyed the outdoors to include taking care of his yard, repairing small engines such as lawn mowers and other lawn service equipment. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone doing something outdoors if he was able. He loved taking a Sunday day trip to Skyline Drive with his family for a picnic and to view the scenic sites from the mountain. He loved his pick-up trucks and kept them clean; collected and loved baseball caps, no team required it just had to be a "good cap".

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Georgie Rebecca Barbour; three sons, William (Robin) of Ashburn, Va., Vincent ( Erika) of Mableton, Ga., and Michael of Charlottesville, Va.; two granddaughters, Mikala and Maya Barbour (William); two brothers, Robert Barbour of Hyattsville, Md., and Charles Barbour of New Haven, Conn.; and two sisters, Janet Danner of Charlottesville, Va., and Joanne Barbour of Waynesboro, Va. He is also survived by a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 12 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery, Pea Ridge Road, White Hall, Va.
