Dear Brenda, I am very sorry to hear of Bill's passing after the fact. I was a student from the late '60's at Meriwether Lewis and remember his running the 600 yard run with us in 4th grade and him accompanying us on field trips with our teacher Miss Kilner. As a now retired teacher of 30 plus years, I can really appreciate his genuine invested involvement in our lives. Dave Weaver

Mr. Steigman was my principal at Meriwether Lewis School, and he was counselor to my children at Cale Elementary. He was a favorite!! We had the BEST field days at MLS, and we loved it when he came outside during recess and played ball with us. My children just loved him, the same way we did as children, and I don't think any of us will ever forget him. God bless the entire Steigman family and give you comfort during this time of sorrow and loss.

I went to Meriwether Lewis in the 60s when he was our principal. He was a very good principal / teacher. I was selected as one to take the flag down in the afternoon, he taught me the reason they fold it 13 times was because of the 13 original colonies..a couple years ago I went to a Vietnam war museum our guide asked us why do they fold the flag 13 times..I answered. He said in his 10+ years of asking that question I was the only one who answered it. Mr Steigman taught me that. I am so sorry for his family and the world to lose such a good man. He and his teachings will forever be with me

My three children all attended Merriwether Lewis School when he was the principal. He was an outstanding principal and a thoughtful caring man loved by all his students and everyone in his community. When I was involved with the PTO he and I put on a spaghetti dinner fund raiser. He made it fun besides being a worthwhile cause. He will be missed by all. Pat Richmond

My kids went to Scottsville Elementary School. He was their principal. Nicest guy and treated all the kids as his own. I can't count how many different kind of pencils my 2 sons would bring home. All coming from him. I saved them for the longest time and then I remarrie, moved and they just went to pencil heaven. I will have fond memories of Mr Steigman. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
