After completing his basic training he shipped out to Braconne, France where he served as a Radio Specialist 4th class and was honorably discharged in 1958.

After retiring Tony took a few months off and getting bored decided to help his friend Jack Connolly out by taking a position as a bartender at the Bowling Green Golf Club, a private club where he could indulge in his love of golf. His life then took an unexpected turn when friends talked him into applying for a Security Officer's job with FedEx at Newark Airport. Naturally, he got the job and thus began a new career. Tony was an ardent member of the South Boonton Field Club also known as the Panthers, a football team that began in his parents' basement back in the late thirties.
In 1963 because of his love of football, Tony and his brother Hotchie founded the North Jersey Football Association (NJFA) consisting of the Boonton Bears and four other area teams. Using his fundraising skills Tony was able to raise the money to start the team. Tony remained active for several years and never lost his love for the game.
On one of his many golf trips Tony joined a different kind of club in 1994, the 48 oz. Club at Don Shula's Hotel and Golf Club in Miami. As an elite member his name is proudly displayed in the restaurant.
In 2004 with his wife retiring they both decided to start using the Ormond Beach home they had bought in 1978. It took Tony about a year to renovate the house and on September 14, 2005, his 70th birthday, they made the move to Ormond Beach, FL. Returning back home to Boonton for holidays and summers so Tony could get his Jersey tomatoes. Last summer because he didn't make it home his friend Jim Paxos and his brother Hotchie both sent him a supply of Jersey tomatoes to enjoy. Tony loved to cook and especially enjoyed making meatballs, homemade pasta and bread for friends and family as well as his mother's chestnut cookies for Christmas.
