Helen Marie Burke Mulvihill, age 94, lifelong resident of Hackettstown died Friday, April 6, 2012 at House of the Good Shepherd of Hackettstown, NJ. Mrs. Mulvihill was born July 2, 1917 in Hackettstown, NJ. She is the daughter of the late William and the late Lena (Riedinger) Burke. She was married to the late Arthur Mulvihill. In addition to her parents and husband Helen is also predeceased by her sister Irene Byrne. Helen was a teacher of cosmetology for the Sussex County Vocational-Technical School, Sparta, NJ. She was a member of: the NJ Hair Fashions Committee, NJ Master Hairdressers Association and the NJ Education Association. Helen was licensed for teaching with the NJ State Board of Beauty Culture. Taught for Rutgers University at Bergen Tech in Hackensack and was self employed for many years in the Beauty Industry. She taught many courses in hair styling, cosmetology and hair coloring at several universities and technical colleges. In addition to her love of teaching she enjoyed painting, playing the piano and organ.

She is survived by her son; Robert J. Mulvihill and wife Carolyn, Hackettstown, NJ; 1 Brother William Burke and wife Agnes, Hackettstown, NJ; a Grandson, Robert Mulvihill,, Port Murray, NJ and a Granddaughter, Shelly Eckhardt and husband Peter, Hackettstown, NJ.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 10 am, St. Mary's Church of the Assumption, 305 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Father David Pekola officiating. Burial will be in Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown. Calling hours will be Monday, April 9, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squad, PO Box 201, Hackettstown, N.J. 07840.
