Louis Garubo Obituary
Mendham - Louis Santo Garubo passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 20, 2018. He was 73 years old.
Born in Irvington, NJ, to parents Angelo and Gertrude Garubo, Lou graduated from Vailsburg High School and from the Wilford Beauty Academy. A three sport star at Vailsburg High School, Lou excelled in football, track and swimming. He received the Most Outstanding Athlete Award in 1964. He was a local businessman and the owner of the House of Charm and Blue Ridge Pool and Fireplace, for many years, as well as a councilman for Mendham Borough. He was the longest serving councilman for Mendham, serving 26 years.
Lou is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Rebecca Garubo, daughters Christa Garubo-Boland, Joanna Tortorello, and Michele Murphy, Jake, Ashley, and Emily Waite, brother Phil Garubo, sister Angela Fiori and former wife Laura Garubo. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Madeline and Lily Boland, Mila and Mason Murphy and Cooper and Colton Tortorello.
A memorial visitation will take place from 9-11 am, followed by a memorial mass on November 29 at 11 am at St. Luke's Church, 265 W Mill Rd, Long Valley, NJ 07853. A burial of ashes will take place immediately after in Hilltop Cemetery, 18 Hilltop Rd, Mendham NJ, 07945. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lou's name can be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123
