What do I remember about the woman I came to call Mom so many years ago...I remember how much she loved her family - especially dad! To say that she doted on him is probably the understatement of the year! She also loved babies - all babies! She loved holding them, cuddling them, rocking them & just being around them! They brought so much joy into her life!
Mom loved to cook! She loved the big holidays where everyone got together around the table & she could cook all the favorite foods - especially her Fruitcake!!
I remember when they retired & moved to Whiteville & while they enjoyed living in an apartment there, were searching for just the right house for them to call home. I remember the happiness on both their faces when they discovered that their bid was the winning bid on the house that the Whiteville students had built! They took so much pride in that house!
While we were living in Raleigh, Mike, Wendy, Jodi, Shannon and I would visit & much to the girls delight when they got there, Mom's delicious yellow cake with chocolate icing would always be waiting for them in the kitchen! In fact, they still talk about that cake to this day! :)
All of us have of such happy memories of summers spent at Ocean Isle Beach! We would share a house with them & Nancy & JB & their children would always be next door or just a few houses away! So much fun for everyone - water, sandy beaches, fireworks, crab catching & just spending time together with family. Mom loved every minute!
I think just a few days ago dad told mom how much he missed her & how no-one in Heaven could really take care of him the way she could & he needed her there with him!
RIP MOM!!
Love, Candy

Remember the happy times.
There were so may happy, fun times with our family mostly spent in Morrristown, NJ and I will attempt to recall some or them here.
Mom and Dad (James P. McCloughy) married after WWII and My brother Jim and were among the early WWII baby boomers. We lived in Buffalo, NY for a short while (thankfully!), moved to my grandfather's farm in NC and then to Morristown, NJ. My earliest memories of those years are living in an apartment on Washington Street where Kevin and Kathy were born. Mom and Dad bought a house on Atno Avenue (1956?). Brian was born in 1959. Mom also worked part time for many years before taking a full time at Bamberger's department store.
Here are just some of the memories:
We went to church (St Margaret's ironically) as a family every Sunday and Mom would prepare a Sunday family dinner afterwards.
We visited my grandfather's many times in the summer and Mom was right at home with farm life. Us children truly enjoyed these farm visits and there are so many memories of that time. Many visits were during tobacco harvesting time and Mom fit right in helping with all the work necessary for the harvest. Jim and I thought this was fun and we enjoyed with our farm visits. We also went to White Lake, Lake Waccamaw and the beach.
In the summer we would go Burnham park to swim and play. I went into deeper water (could not swim) and was rescued by Jim and a lifeguard. Mom got us into swim lessons right after that!
We all went to schools in Morristown and mostly walked to neighborhood elementary and high schools. Mom got us off to school (mostly on time as I was always late). Mom used to tell me I would be late for own funeral. Mom (and Dad) were always encouraging us to do well in school and I am thankful now that they did.
Mom and Dad retired to Whiteville, NC. Mom grew up in NC and went o scools in Hallsboro, NC. Candy and I were in Raleigh and we were able to visit them frequently In Whiteville.
We spent several summers taking family vacations at Ocean Isle Beach with Mom, Dad, my brother Jim and his family and my uncle JB and aunt Nancy and their family.
Thanks Mom for all of the fun and happy times and good memories.
Love you Mom,
Mike and Candy.
