Matthew Alexander Lackowski, also known as Red Herring, Red Lackowski and Red McMahon, died December 12, 2015, aged 37, in Palm Desert, CA, after a brief illness. Matthew was married to William H. Schleicher of Morristown, NJ; Palm Desert, CA; and Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. He is survived by Dixie, his Jack Russell Terrier, friends and acquaintances.

Born in Saginaw, MI, the son of Clarence and Betty Jean (McMahon) Lackowski, Matthew played football at Frankenmuth (MI) High School, attended the Art Institute of CA (LA) and The College of the Desert, Palm Desert, CA. He was affiliated with Earthship Biotecture, Taos, NM as well as The Eco Village, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary. He played rugby on the LA Rebellion rugby football team and was a member of the Irish Georgian Society. He worked as an Assistant Editor at Bent Magazine (Flynt Enterprises) in Los Angeles. He was a beta tester of the original Call of Duty gaming series as well as an avid World of Warcraft enthusiast. He was formerly Creative Partner, mal-intent productions, llc which he owned with his husband. Red worked as a bartender at the LA Eagle, provided security services to Mickey's, West Hollywood, CA and the Barracks in Cathedral City, CA

Arrangements and burial will be private in Ireland. No flowers requested. Tributes can be held for the establishment of a scholarship fund in his name or donated immediately to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, YWCA Central West MI, Grand Rapids MI or to a local abused children's charity.
