Raymond R. Dennig

AGE: 79 • Hackettstown

Hackettstown: Raymond R. Dennig passed away on April 7, 2016 at Hackettstown Medical Center. He was 79 years of age.

Raymond was born and raised in Newark and spent summers at Tabor Lake in Parsippany. He later lived in Mt. Tabor and Denville and lived the past 24 years in Hackettstown. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked as a mechanic and owned several service stations; the last was Lancers Shell in Livingston. Raymond was also a professional motorcycle racer until his retirement in 1967. He spent many years as the time clock/scorekeeper for the basketball teams at Fairleigh Dickinson University (Madison) and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2002. He very much enjoyed coaching his children's baseball, softball, basketball and soccer teams in Denville as well as playing softball in a men's league there as well.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Isabelle (nee Armstrong).

He is survived by three children; Laura Scerbo of Wharton, Scott Dennig and his companion Cindy Voskian of Denville and Keith Dennig and his companion Deborah Watson of Rockaway, three grandchildren; Kyle Scerbo, Tyler Scerbo and Samantha Dennig, brother; Douglas Dennig and his wife Anne of Pittsburgh, Pa and his companion Vanessa Rao of Hackettstown, her son Ted Rao of Hackettstown and her grandchildren Samantha, Haile and Teddy Rao.

Visitation will be held 2-5pm on Sunday April, 10 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral service will be held on Monday 9:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover. Interment will follow at Hanover Cemetery in East Hanover.

Laura, Scott,& Keith... My sincerest condolences in the passing of dad. He was an exceptional dad & grand dad & special cousin to me many times. I enjoyed our chats at Lancer Shell & Tabor Lake has lost a great man. I will miss his phone calls while he checked on my wanderings in my RV.
