Kitty,
I went to Furman with Bob, and what I remember most about him is he never missed mass on sunday evening with Father Steve. He and Bushwell were always there! I learned of his death today from the Furman magazine and am saddened. You and your family will remain in my prayers.

I was the Athletic Trainer for the Furman baseball team for four years, and I enjoyed many wonderful times with Bobby during baseball season. We spent hours driving all over the south in team vans. He was a tremendous player, and he also had a great sense of humor and dignity about him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My prayers are with you and your family. I told my late husband Gary in heaven to find Bob and enjoy the company of a wonderful man as I had during those travel hockey days. He always made sure I was ok and was just vey caring of eveyone. Most of all his sense of humor kept us all laughing. Kitty, please just take it one day at a time---call me or come down to LBI for some stress relief--I live here now. Anytime, I will be here to just listen or comfort. Time continues but the sudden loss is difficult. Just look forward, I know easier said than done, keep the faith. Bob was a great person! My prayers and sympathy, Peggy

Bob Roma was a team manager for many years within the New Jersey Colonials travel hockey organization. He was a conscientious and passionate manager for his son Ricky's team and a valuable asset to the Colonials. He coached on our Spring league teams and was extrememely well liked. On behalf of the New Jersey Colonials organization, we wish to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Roma Family.

Dear Kitty and the Roma Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear about Bobby’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family during this difficult time.
I grew up in the same neighborhood with Bobby and we spent many hours together, mostly playing sports. It didn’t matter what sport we played…Baseball, basketball, football even street hockey on the dead end (Alpine Way) behind the Roma house. We would call everyone in the neighborhood to play. We even had our own sandlot baseball team, playing behind the church off of Northfield Ave. I have many fond memories of Bobby and his love for sports. I remember him showing me the proper way to hold and throw a baseball. We would spend hours in his back yard just throwing a baseball. One summer day Bobby’s dad George got 3 tickets to a Mets vs. Braves game, the both of us were so excited...we were going to see Hank Aaron play! Unfortunately the car over heated on Rt. 80 and we never made it! It didn’t matter to Bobby as long as we got to a TV in time to see the game! Honestly, I just recently thought about Bobby when I attended the LHS 30 year reunion in April. He was a great childhood friend and he will be sorely missed.

I was so sorry to learn of Bobby's death. I’ll always remember Bobby's smile and his sense of humor. I played a lot of ball with Bobby when we were kids. I'll never forget his speed and his intensity. He was a great ball player, a great teammate and a pleasure to be around on and off the field.

Keeping the Roma family in my prayers.

I am very saddened to hear of Bobby's passing. He was an exceptional athlete - probably one of the most natural and instinctive athletes I've ever known. It's like yesterday - I can remember how exciting it was when he returned a kick-off back in high school. He would zig and zag across the football field, and accelerate like a bolt of lightning. The crowd would roar... Man, he was like poetry in motion.

I had not seen Bobby for about 25 years. But I am sure, if I did, he'd have that warm smile and kindness that I remember and always appreciated about him. He will surely be missed.

My heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Words cannot properly express the sorrow and ache I feel in my heart at the news of Bobby Roma’s passing. It is too difficult to comprehend. Bobby first touched my heart and soul some 33 years ago while we learned how to properly turn a double play together on the baseball diamond at Livingston High School. He was so much better than me…quicker hands, quicker turn and better instinct. And it challenged me to be a better ballplayer than I ever would have been. We had some amazing years together on and off the field and the intense memories of those years are embedded into the fabric of my soul, and always will be. Bobby Roma was so much more than a great athlete, he was a great friend to those that he “ran” with. He was the guy with the class, the respect and the sensitivity toward others. Bobby Roma was the guy whose lunch table you always wanted to sit at, whether you were a guy or a girl! He was the guy you always wanted to be around. I was one of the lucky ones to have had that opportunity in my youth so many times. Being childhood friends with Bobby Roma made me a better person and I will be forever grateful for that. See you on the other side “Rome” and keep a spot open for me at your lunch table.

With a very heavy heart,

My deepest sympathy to all of Bobby Roma's family.

I can remember it like it was yesterday. As the younger brother of one of Bobby teamates of the Lancers Baseball teams in the late 70's. I will never forget what a respectful example of a perfect young gentleman Bobby had displayed for me. I will take the respect Bobby showed of himself in my memory of him and continue to share it through my own life experiences.

I am forever grateful to have known him and will miss his beautiful smile which he shared every time I saw him.

Peace to you now and forever Bobby Roma. Thank you for touching my life.

With deepest sympathy,
