Steve Abend Obituary
Steve grew up in humble beginnings across from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. An only child raised by his mother, Dorothy (Mulnik). They had little yet; his life was so rich from the love and devotion that his mother provided him. He went on to graduate from Queens College and then attended St. Johns Law School. After graduating, he was politically active in Queens and NYC. He then went on to work for the NYC Dept of Transportation, and then for Rudy Giuliani when he was US Attorney for the Southern District of NY. Steve would later change career paths and join Panasonic, where he held the position of National Sales Director and continued his career there for 35 years. It was at Panasonic where he met the love of his life, Alison (Forno) Abend. They were married for 22 years and have 2 beautiful children Dillon and Daniella. Steve was a devoted father, husband, and friend to all. He will always be remembered for his entertaining spirit, no filter humor, kindness, and generosity to all. Steve was diagnosed with stage four Pancreatic Cancer March of 2017 and was a brave and determined fighter to the very end. In the last several years, when the cancer treatments had started to take a toll on his body, his favorite pastime was to have his son, Dillon, drive him around the Jersey Shore waters in their boat. He loved the sunshine, water, good food, and an occasional cigar shared with friends. Steve led his life and guided his family based on strong convictions and firm principles. He took so much pride in both children's achievements and, most importantly, in their character.
He leaves behind his wife, Alison, his son Dillon, daughter Daniella, Father In-law Larry Forno, Mother In Law Carole Forno, and many in-law relatives and friends that will sorely miss him.
Friends of the Abend family have set up a scholarship fund for Dillon and Daniela and request in lieu of flowers to please consider donating to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in his memory @ www.PanCan.org or a scholarship fund to be set up for the children.
